Neglect/Catch up/All that jazz!!

Why hello check blog!! Please pardon my unintentional neglect. I got caught up with the festivities of that which is turkey day, and all the shindigs, family, and just plain..stuff, that comes along with it. So, allow me to catch you up.
Thanksgiving occurred 3 days ago, and it was, as usual, quite filling:) I ate my weight in turkey, and other foods, and had a great time doing the usual traditions with the fam, which includes, game playing, football watching, eating (hehe) and things of the like. Twas quite a fun day!! So, now, tomorrow, I have to set myself back into reality, which, although this blog is made by a pair of "reality-checks" I must say, I despise reality sometimes. I'd rather just be on holiday breaks all my life, but, I suppose if that were the case, I'd never learn anything. **sigh** oh the woes and pains of being edumucated. Ah well. Good news is, there is choir tomorrow, and although its lame, (bear with me, I'm homeschooled) most of my best friends, (including Bella :D) go there, so, it shall be good to see them. Sadly though, in order for me to be able to reach 6 pm, choir time; I must endure every time in between, which shall be filled with school for the majority. Ah well. C'est la vie.
Anyway, besides having had thanksgiving, dreading school, and facing reality, not too much has happened for me between now, and my last blog posts. However, I assure you dear reader, it shall get interesting soon. Bella and I have some party planning to do for her sweet 16 (WOOT!) and some shopping, and some Christmas parties, etc etc. So, as much as I hate to put us on the spot, I'm going to say it: We shall provide you with some epic posts soon! :D
Anyways, again, I am sorry for the neglect of the blog, but, it shall not happen again, anytime soon:)
Farewell for now.
-Abbs.

"2 HOT 2 HANDLE"

My finger had a major moment of hotness Thursday like you wouldn't believe.
It caught on fire:)
I was only trying to melt some copper for beads in the crucible, and I blink and the torch slides over and FWOOSH. Flame, burned finger, awful smell, and PAIN.
Did i mention it was 8th grade day and there were like 30 people staring at me?
Yeah.
Super fun.

Turkey day!! :)

Hey folks! It's almost turkey day! Can I get a woot-woot?? (or a gobble gobble? hehe..)
Now, I <3 thanksgiving. The awesome food, Macy day parade, the odd relatives coming in town, saying they remember when they changed your diaper, (even though you didn't even know they existed) the football games, cool weather, changing leaves. The list goes on. You know..it's such a great holiday, that, sometimes, I wish I was a Canadian who lived in the states, so I could celebrate it twice a year. Yet, despite such positive attributes, I find one flaw with thanksgiving. The anticipation of Christmas.
Now, don't get me wrong. I love Christmas more than sliced bread. However, I do believe because they are two different holidays, they should be (and aren't) treated as such. I mean, if I walk into Costco, I want to buy some awesome plates, or, those awkward stuffed (w/ cotton, not stuffing) turkey's you put in your living room, or maybe some of those fake leaves you stream all over your house. I do not want to walk into Costco, and first see a huge selection of Christmas tree's, or, Santa Clause or anything of that sort. Again, I absolutely adore Christmas, however, I say...leave it alone until after thanksgiving. Now, if you're talking about buying toys for your kids, and put them on layaway, that kind of stuff, i have zero qualms. However, the lengths people go to these days are CRAZY. Now, for the big question. What do I make of Christmas music being played before Dec.? I, do not think it is as obnoxious as all the other stuff people do, and as a matter of fact, I enjoy it from time to time. Yet, what it does, is, again...it steals thanksgiving's glory. Thanksgiving is kind of like that little underrated band that you see at a concert. Like, they come on, and people will clap for them and stuff, but, they focus their attention on the bigger better band coming on next, and it makes the smaller band (which has great potential) look not-so-exciting, when in reality, it is. So, here's my final thoughts: Enjoy Christmas. Enjoy Thanksgiving. Enjoy them separately. Rant concluded:)

Henna tats, road signs, and Shakespeare.

BORIS BALLY IS AT FINE ARTS CENTER.
SO COOL!!!!
He's gonna be working with the metals class (YAYAAA!!) all this week!!!!
I got to meet him today, and am now the owner of a Boris Bally keychain (I shall post a picture of it soon, I'm sure).
In case you don't know who he is, here are some pictures of his work
SO COOL.

I gave myself a henna tattoo yesterday, and I'm waiting for it to get darker-it's coming along, but I wish they went faster.

And Abi and I are going to go see a production of "The Tempest" tonight at Bob Jones University (We get cooler by the minute, don't we?). I find Shakespeare to be quite entertaining though, because of the way he writes. The way he captures human nature makes his plays relatable (Why is spell check correcting that?? Is it not a real word???) even now, which is cool.

And now seems like a good but not really relevant time to plug my Tumblr!!!!

There ya go, in case you care:)

Till later,
-Bella

REVIEW-SONGS- "Excuses" by The Morning Benders

This song makes me feel incredibly happy. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the oh-so-catchy 3/4 time rhythm. And that strings part that comes in like WHHOOOOOSSSSHHHH. Its fantastical.

I first heard it on a really cool mix by Jens Lekman called "A Summer in 3/4 Time", which I highly recommend if you can find it-it's also got some Au Revoir Simone, Egg stone, and even Jane Morgan and the Troubadours!!

I've also heard that "Excuses" is on the new Reese's commercial, which if this is true, makes it all the more awesome. I haven't watched much TV lately though, nor had the time to go on YouTube, but when I do I will most definitely look that up!!!

So KUDOS, Morning Benders!! I am a fan:)

Any songs, albums, bands, mixes, or various other music you want me to review? Send submissions to abbsandbella@gmail.com, and put REVIEW and then what it is as the subject.
And yes, I will review your band, your friends' band(s), your mothers' band(s), and even old bands!! It's all fair game

Epic people call for epic blogs!

The day starts with Bella and Abbs having a usual, random, funny, discussion/debate on facebook, so it is in clear and plain sight of the general public. As we are doing this, a bored 15 year old male (a mutual friend of ours) comments in between our useless bickering, and says the following:

Boy
: wow! this conversation is very entertaining to someone whose bored.

I doubt he intended, or predicted the following conversation to evolve into this:
Bella:I must say, itd probably be interesting even if you werent bored! Wouldnt you agree abbs?
Abbs
: i would agree entirely mon ami. we're quite the entertaining duet.

Bella: Indeed we are yamu!! We need a tv show. Or a blog!! Lets start a blog!!

Abbs
: mmk. blog it is! email me!

Bella: I shall!!

LATER THAT DAY.....

Bella
: what should we call our blog?

Abbs:oooh. idk. thats tricky. there is sooo much we could call it, ya know? haha. what do u think? youre the creative side of it all:P

Bella
: Something with check in it. Like call the blog "check", and have the url be something with that in it

Abbs:yeaa. i had the check thing in mind too. url ideer?

Bella:Nah, they all sound rly cheesy. Maybe "theadventuresofabiandbella.blogspot.com"

Abbs:sounds grandical!

Bella: Kewlness!! Ill start it and add you as a writer. You wanna type up an introductory post?

Abbs:oh goodness. sure, i can try. haha. how do u introduce ppl to the likes of us tho? lol

Bella: I dunno:/ i guess a basic, well embellished story of how we came to be brcs, and then what the blog is gonna be-im thinking part diary-ish, part reviews of the world-like, park benches, kettle corn, and various socks.

Abbs:haha, ok. sounds good:) how long do i have?

Bella: Uhh, idk. Lets shoot for tonight.

Abbs: mmkay:)

And thus, ladies and gents, concludes the genesis of the AbbsandBella series. We see/do/experience a lot of things together, as true friends do, and with our blog posts, we hope to accomplish the following things:
A way to express what we think of, and how we view, certain circumstances that we simultaneously encounter.
A project we can do together, as many think we are "quite the pair".

Provide some entertainment for whoever dares read the epic series.

And lastly, have a
plain-old-stinkin'-good-time!

So, dear readers, we hope you are brave enough to fasten your seat belts, and join us through the epic ride of that which is the Best-Reality-Checkership of Abbs and Bella. We want you to see the common struggles, joys, perils, and triumphs we go through on quite a regular basis, and enjoy being a part of our journey as regular teenage girls. Remember, each post you read will be something new we both encountered, and as you read it, surprised by whatever twist or change it may be from the previous post, always keep in mind...it was just as shocking to us. So, stay current everyone. We promise that you will always have something above and beyond interesting to read with our epic tales! And trust us...there are many, and the numbers can only grow;)

Best-reality-checkers. The tale of Abbs and Bella's beginning.

On Saturday, Sept. 5th 2009, two people met. Sounds simple. Which, at that time...it was. A 14-year-old girl by the name of Abigail Eastin, (me)  met another girl (same age)  by the name of Isabella Mello. We were both at the park for an event with the choir that we both had to (reluctantly) sing in. A rather "homerschoolerish" choir it was, which, therefore made for rather upset girls, thinking they were about to join a place full of skirt-wearing, electricity-hating, annoying-semi-Amish people.

I was standing next to my sister, making "I really don't want to be here" small talk,  when Isabella walked up. She said "Hey, do you know what everyone is gonna be doing here?" I replied, with a very disenchanted tone of voice "I have no idea...but, I think they're playing Frisbee or something" Isabella laughed "God, I'm so bad at that"  I laughed and said "Haha. Ya. I'm not sure what else though. We just got here." Isabella, " Ok. Cool. You guys wanna walk over here with everyone else?" My sister and I said "sure" and  we all walked to join the group who, awkwardly stood around and throwing a frisbee at each other.

The rest of the day was rather a blur, and kind of boring for me. I thought this Isabella was pretty cool for a choir kid, but,  I didn't think we'd really talk after that day, so, I distanced myself from her and most of the kids there, and just talked to a girl named Leah (who will, I'm sure, appear frequently in future posts) and a friend Melaine, (also one that will most likely make a debut sooner or later) who were friends I knew outside of, and before choir. Towards the end of the day though, the whole gang was sitting up at the top of the slide, super bored, and making awful small talk. I was at my wits end with that day, and could not WAIT to get home. So, as I was sitting there, pretending to be engaged in whatever these people were discussing, I heard that Isabella girl (who, I continually called "Isabelle" in my head) start talking about one of my top ten, favorite bands...Paramore. I was ceased in my tracks! A homeschooler knew who Paramore was?? I then, checked myself back into the conversation, this time, fully engaged, and was listening to her story about hearing Paramore preform.  I don't really remember much of what she said during that story, but, I do recall hearing something about a drunk lady with nacho cheese all over her personal being, and Hayley Williams (Paramore's lead singer) having a good voice live. After that, we couldn't help but start discussing our favorite Paramore songs. So, I thought she was cool because she knew that Paramore even existed, but then, she and I, as well as my sister, begin singing "Misery Business" (one of Paramore's greatest songs EVER) at the top of our lungs from the top of that silly old swing set. After that..she graduated from cool, to like...REALLY COOL. So, about, 20 min. later, my mom showed up, and I was actually having a pretty good time w/ "Isabelle" but, of course, didn't want to admit that fact, because I was determined to have a crappy time at this homeschooler choir, amish-people-event-thing.

So, in the weeks after, I had definitely decided that "Isabelle" was the coolest kid at choir, but, I didn't really talk to her much. We occasionally said hey, and had some kind of ongoing joke with her high-fiving me (i have no clue how it started, or what the joke was, but, i do remember that) but, other then that, our friendship wasn't anything too special. We saw each other Thurs. nights, and chatted, but, that was about it. Then, in Nov., our choir had a 3-and-a-half day singing competition at Bob Jones University. (The coolest school ever, right?) This too, was an event that I was HIGHLY dreading, due to the fact that I was gonna be stuck at some awful, legalistic,  university, with really only 3 friends, having to participate in an event (singing) which I really did not, at the time, enjoy. So, I braced myself for a week of sheer boredom, and yucky amish-people rules. As we drove up, I saw a group of my choir cronies outside, and amongst them was Isabella. (yes, i had finally gotten it through my thick head, that her name ended it "a" and not "elle") She was standing out there with some other people in her purple OP sunglasses named Virginia. (you'll learn why they bear that name, in later posts im sure) I hopped out of the car, said goodbye to my mom, took a deep breath, and got ready for the week. It so happened that I said hi to Isabella first, and just kind of continued talking to her that night from then on after. Not only did I talk to her that night, but, we talked the next day a lot too. And the next, and the next, and, quite literally, we never left each others side, the whole week at festival. We had some interesting experiences that week, and different things (yes, involving boys...go figure!) that we NEEDED each other for. And, our mutual hatred for some things, and the sheer fact that we both thought homeschoolers were lame, and could rest in the haven of that uncommon, common factor, we became very good friends, in three long days. After that, we were going through some "drama", more or less, amongst our little lame social circle at choir, and, again, we needed each other a lot. So, seeing each other at choir, was not enough. We got email addresses. That wasn't enough. We began "tweeting" to each other in our secret little code words. That wasn't enough. Then, we finally decided...it was time to bring in the big guns...WE GOT EACH OTHERS PHONE NUMBER! Ya. We were LEGIT. Now, little did we know, after our first conversation on the phone ever, (which took place in Feb. one night, after a choir rehearsal) there would be many more. However, despite us not knowing...it happened. Our poor families. We would (and still do, just, not AS frequently) talk, every day, for no less then 2 hours, about EVERYTHING.  We could have talked for days, and not known the time that went by. Now, it was of course, safe for everyone and anyone, to assume we were good friends. However, that term "friends" wasn't quite good enough for us. I mean, we are friends, obviously, but, we've been through too much, and had to help each other on too much to just be plain and simple "friends" We needed a title. Something cool, new, uncommon, and more original then "chickas" or "bffs" (which are the two most overused terms in my humble opinion) and, I remember Isabella saying on the phone one day "Yea Abbs. You're not really a friend..you're more of a...reality check" And, even though we both laughed, we thought that such a title was suiting for all that we had been through and (little did we know) all that was to come.

There it is. Abigail Eastin and Isabella Mello. (more commonly known as "Abbs and Bella") Best-reality-checkers (brc's) like you wouldn't believe! We've been through a lot, we're going to go through a lot, and most definitely stick by each others side while we do:) What I've explained above, is just the tip of the iceberg. We have so much to say, just can never find the best outlet to say it at. That's one of the reasons we've started this blog. Although...if you read the post above, that will really give you the scoop on how AbbsandBella got started.  Yet, I do hope that all of the above gave you insight on how we became friends. Now, if your eyes are burning, take a break:) If not, you're a trooper! and the post above this one, will give you the details on how this epic blog came to be! Enjoy my friends!! :D

My First Post

Ha, so, this is my first post. And, while it may not be as epic as the one Abbs is working on, I think it's a very nice little post.
I'll write a review next, I think. Or a "Thoughts On ____" piece.
